Toris Jaeger Honorary Dinner
September 29, 2018 – Orinda Community Center

On Saturday, September 29, 2018, more than 125 community members gathered at Orinda Community Center for a formal dinner to honor Toris Jaeger for her 40 years of service and dedication as a teacher and naturalist at Wagner Ranch Nature Area in Orinda, California. Assemblywoman Catharine Baker, Mayor Amy Worth, OUSD Superintendent Dr. Carolyn Seaton, and many other state and local leaders were in attendance, along with countless parents, volunteers, and teachers who have worked with Toris over the years. She was presented with a Joint Resolution by the State of California and a proclamation by the City of Orinda. Mayor Worth declared September 30, 2018 as "Toris Jaeger Day" in Orinda, California. Alex Filippenko, Professor of Astrophysics at UC Berkeley and contributor to History Channel's, The Universe, delivered the keynote address. The event was generously sponsored by Village Associates Real Estate and Computers & Structures, Inc. More than $40,000 was raised in Toris' honor to support the outdoor education programs at Wagner Ranch Nature Area. More than 10,000 Orinda students have been touched by Toris' teaching since 1978.
